Ben from Full Throttle
This one was tough. I haven’t realized how much bigger Full Throttle sprites were compared to other Lucas Arts games’ until I started building this voxel mountain of a man. Ben here is looking a bit chubby because the game originally ran at 320x200, using rectangular pixels. I guess I COULD adjust his proportions afterwards, but that would be cheating. For now, I’ll just sit here waiting for the future and the inevitable invention of hi-tech rectangular voxels. Should be any day now!
Guybrush Threepwood from Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge.
Newer, much improved Guyqmo. Even though I couldn’t voxelize it perfectly, because it’s drawn at a slight angle, I actually used the side shot sprite for reference while making these edits, resulting in a much livelier pose and higher accuracy.
Jesse James’ severed hand in a jar from Sam & Max Hit The Road
An experiment in voxelizing a sprite with transparency AND drawn at an angle. I guess I felt like challenging myself with something dumb no other person in this universe would understand.
Purple Tentacle from Day of the Tentacle
I like to keep these things as accurate as possible (from the front and back at least), so it’s a shame I had to get rid of the outline, but I couldn’t come up with a way to keep it without adding a jarring seam or shadows that weren’t there in the first place.
Guybrush Threepwood from Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge.
First attempt at making Guyqmo Threepwood using the excellent Qubicle Constructor. He’s a bit awkward and flat because I based him on just the front and back sprites and I clearly lack imagination.
